Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4

has finally been released -
The Update Rollup contains all security updates produced for Windows 2000 between the time SP4 was released and April 30, 2005... The Update Rollup also contains a number of updates that increase system security, reliability, reduce support costs, and support the current generation of PC hardware.

Interestingly it won't be delivered to Windows 2000 through automatic updates until each server has been moved to Windows Update v6. See more info here and in the KB.

After installing this Update Rollup.... on my Win 2000 server, using MS Windows update, express/critial updates, I found that my server's CPU was running 100% on snmp.exe. I could not stop this process (snmp.exe) in task manager nor would any thing else run on the server, not a good thing on a server. After uninstalling the "update rollup 1 for windows 2000, CPU useage went back to normal. Guess MS has struck again. Anyone else see this happen?

There are several known issues with SP4 that you can see here - http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=891861. According to sources SP4 Update Rollup will be re-released shortly with fixes to all the known problems (Even though this isn't documented in the KB)

Installed Update rollup 1 for W2k SP4 on a Compaq server running W2K server. On the required reboot, Active Directory was inoperable. Fortunately, uninstalling the update seems to have resolved the problem.
Googled and saw some references to issues with the rollup, and info that Microsoft was going to reissue the rollup.

we have this problem too. We are running windows 2000 on a HP netserver, we installed th rollup update and the process usage improved from 50%-100% to just under 50%. We then used winternals process explorer and pinned it down to the HP server agents. we uninstalled this and it worked.

How do i uninstall this update rollup please help !

My recommendation: Upgrade to something newer (but you may be constrained by the application) or uninstall it by restoring the backup you - hopefully - took before applying the rollup.

I have no experience with removing it - can others help?
